About me!
My Story
My name is Daniel and I’ve been wearing barefoot shoes for about seven years. But It started about fifteen years ago when I worked as a delivery chauffeur, mostly for the construction sector, often lifting heavy stuff, and running stairs up and down.Putting a lot of pressure on my knees, hips, and on my feet. I started to notice pain in my right leg and hip, going all the way down to my foot.Now to make a long story short, I tried a lot of different things to get rid of the pain….But nothing worked!
I went to a few different physiotherapists and they gave me training programs which has given me some advantages in the form of a stronger back and legs, but the pain didn’t go away.
I almost started to accept the pain as a reality I had to live with!
It wasn’t until a few years later when a friend of mine came over and showed me his brand new shoes, it was a winter model (this was in January). They had zero drop between the toe and heel and a wide toe box. I thought they looked strange… Like an oversized boot for kids!! But he didn’t care. They were simply the best shoes he had ever worn! Luckily the design has improved with time, so now you can find super stylish barefoot shoes!
The following spring I went to a new physiotherapist, and the first thing I noticed was that he had barefoot shoes on his feet (nice-looking ones too;). I was curious and he started to explain how the foot works and how wrong most of the modern shoes are designed. How a tight toe box causes pain when the toes rub against each other and create pressure in the foot, and gives the illusion that the shoe is comfortable with the help of foam rubber and air soles and that heels i.e. high heel drop put the body in an unnatural position that can cause pain and unnecessary suffering. After a thorough examination of my feet and legs, It was clear that barefoot shoes should be a part of my treatment. And after about six weeks of wearing my first pair of “barefoot”, combined with a new training program for my feet, my pain gradually went away, never yet to return! Now I’m not saying that just by switching shoes the pain magically went away!! It takes time to get used to walking the “right way” because there is a set of muscles in your foot that needs to be activated and trained! But It changed the quality of my life in record time! Barefoot shoes have made my life so much better!! Maybe It can do the same for you?
